Landscape is the subject of my painting in a style considered both interpretive and progressive. Blending my traditional training with a commitment to representational art, I bring a unique vision to the creative process resulting in a new realism. Pastel is my primary medium because it affords me the greatest freedom of expression and allows me to combine drawing and painting with pure pigment on a single, receptive surface. Pastel pigment reflects light therefore it imparts a luminous quality unique to the medium. For me, a painting is complete when the viewer is drawn into the atmosphere created and responds to the mystery of the landscape that was my inspiration. When my work communicates with the viewer, I share a part of myself that is deeply personal.
